Being still is the hardest order for many in the modern world.

Thanks to wonderful cell phone service, we are reachable most of the places we go.

Thanks to a plethora of interesting tv shows, we are spending our free time binging the latest release.

Productivity is praised at the expense of health.

If someone needs time to rest they often feel they need to make many excuses in order to claim time to themselves.

God commands us to be still, and know that God is God.

It’s so hard for me to be still. It sounds silly, but it’s a lot of work for me to be without noise and distraction.

But I must take the time, to quiet the world around me and be in the stillness - for in the stillness is where we are most open to the love of God.

Powerful and loving God, help me quiet my heart and mind to be present to your greatness. Amen.
